Privacy Statement Introduction

The Australian Space Agency (ASA) understands the importance of keeping personal information confidential and respects the right of individuals to be kept safe from undesired solicitations and inappropriate contact of any form.

 

The ASA has adopted a set of information management guidelines which serve as the basis for our customer and visitor relationships. Our Privacy Statement has been developed with the recognition that internet technologies rapidly evolve and change and accordingly, our statement is subject to change. Any such changes will be posted on this page.

 

Links to third parties on this site are provided as an educational service to our customers and visitors. The ASA is not responsible for the content or the privacy policies of web sites to which it may link.

 

What information does the ASA gather?

The ASA will require that clients, customers and forum participants supply personal information, including e-mail address, during the website registration and purchasing of goods and/or services.

 

The ASA also logs IP addresses, or the location of your computer on the Internet, for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes. We do not log IP addresses to track a user's session, nor do we link IP addresses to anything personally identifiable.

 

What does the ASA do with this information?

The ASA may perform statistical analyses of user behaviour in order to measure relative consumer interest in the various areas of our site for service development purposes. In performance of these statistical analyses, we will not disclose information to third parties in any form other than total site visits and page views. Personal information or demographics on individual subscribers will not be provided to any third party at any time.

 

Demographic information provided by an individual may be combined with site usage reports to profile, in aggregate form, users and their preferences in site content.

The ASA will not use information to send periodical e-mails about services offered to its clients, customers and forum participants unless they have indicated so upon registration. However the e-mail address provided at registration may be contacted in a special circumstance regarding account status, significant changes or a security matter. If there is any doubt about the authenticity of an email from us please contact us immediately.

 

Does the ASA share this information with anyone?

The ASA does not share personal information with any advertisers and other partners. We do not release personal information about any individual to any third parties. We also do not sell or share email addresses with any third party, advertiser or other partners. The ASA will provide an individual with a summary of his or her personal information provided at registration upon request. This information will only be sent to the e-mail address on file for the subscriber name associated with it.

 

Upon request, the ASA will remove personal information from our database, or allow anyone to "opt out" of further contact, while still allowing access to the site or change personal information that an individual deems as incorrect. To obtain an information summary or request a change of information, send an e-mail to our Customer Service Department.

How does the ASA protect personal information?

Information is kept in an electronic format. The ASA does not maintain any personally identifiable information online or internally that is not kept in an encrypted file with protected access.
